On Thursday, an appeals court upheld the murder conviction of Harlem native and rapper Max B, who was ordered to serve a 75-year prison sentence for planning a botched robbery that lead to a fatality. Prosecutors say the rapper's step-brother Kevin Leerdam and his girlfriend Gina Conway confronted David Taylor and Allan Plowden on orders from Max B. During the confrontation, Leerdam shot and killed Taylor after the robbery took a turn for the worst.
Max B appealed the ruling made by the Bergen County Superior Court judge, citing that the presiding judge did not separate his case from that of his stepbrother's. The rapper also alleged that there were trial errors and prosecutorial missteps during his hearing. However, an appeals panel has upheld the conviction.
Max B is doing his time at Trenton State Prison and won't be eligible for parole until November 2042.
